Hard Body Friday!
I was excited to get after it today considering I went to yoga yesterday and it was Yin Yoga/Flow. I had no idea what this was but to me flow usually means Vinyassa - this was not it. It was basically 5 positions that you held each one for close to 10 minutes. It was challenging to stay still and deepen, but it wasn’t a great workout per se. It was better maybe for my head than my body. Anyway - hard body today!
Class was awesome - we did the usual warm up of ice skaters, running, body builders, flying lunges, squat hops, bear crawls, and so on - and then the evil stairs 5x. Considering what we had last time I was there 5x didn’t seem so bad.
Then class moved, and instead of rotating around to get to spar with the coach, he could pick you out of the line at any time to box with him. It was crazy - part of me felt like I was in elementary school with dodge-ball, and the other part sort of liked that you never know when you are going to go.
His whole theory is before you spar with him you sort of take it easy on the stations because you want to save your energy. However he wants us to go hard all the time, so this sort of tricked your mind.
It was awesome - and I am getting better at the speed bag which makes me happy. Great way to start my long weekend!
