I head to the gym this morning in my normal workout clothes (lulu wunderunder capri’s and sports bra and wife beater a-line shirt), fro-ed out curly hair wrangled into a pony tail, with a sparkly pink glitter headband that was a gift before my half marathon last year.
I catch this girl giving me side eye. Silly me since I don’t know her assumes that it must be directed at someone else.
I hop on my treadmill (too cold to run outside today) and put on TBS to watch re-runs of Married…With Children while I log my 5-6 Tuesday morning miles.
Around mile 1 I notice since she was working the stair-climber that faces the treadmills that she is still looking at me. I recognize her from my spin class yesterday. She was there, working hard, riding away, ignoring the rest of us which is totally okay and acceptable behavior since the gym can be a personal place to escape from everything else.
Around mile 3 I was like this is absurd. Why is she staring? To this point where I was debating stopping my workout and being like - what?! Why are you staring? Not in a mean confrontational way, but like are my pants on backwards or something?
Mile 4.5 still staring. So I think, my workout is almost over. I will just try and strike up a convo with her when I am done to see what this nonsense is.
My treadmill randomly at 53 minutes (I was going for 60) jerked to a 3.3 speed for a “Cool Down” which is weird since I had programed it for 60 minutes. I was totally disoriented and had to step on the sides for a second to acclimate to the slower speed. When I looked up she was gone.
I have no idea why she was giving me dagger eyes. I have no idea who she is even. This is the first time I noticed her, second if you count me realizing she was in my spin class yesterday.
I didn’t let her ruin my workout or my day - and hopefully she was just thinking about something else and the glitter in my headband was distracting her.
Life is too short to go around being snarky. Let it go, and live in the moment and stop worrying about tomorrow, later, the future. Just relax and enjoy or you will miss the moment.
I had a good workout - albeit a little shorter than I wanted. Hopefully she did as well.
