Last nights fundraiser was a huge success! We raised $1200 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society - so a HUGE shout out to everyone that came!
I can’t tell you how wonderful it feels to raise this much money for such a good cause. LLS doesn’t just give money to research - they also do patient care. They do both, where I believe one is not more important than the other.
For example, there is a girl in our run group who is in remission from multiple myelomia. She was telling us when she got diagnosed with cancer, she couldn’t quit her job because she is single and needed the insurance benefits. But she felt so incredibly awful after each treatment it was a struggle to get down the street let alone to work.
So LLS had someone volunteer to go with her to EVERY treatment. They gave her money for cab fare so she didn’t have to take the subway when she felt like that. They made sure she was okay, and got her to work so she could do her best to keep her insurance.
When she told us this story a few weeks ago, I felt like LLS really cared about individual people.
It warmed my heart that I am raising money for such a good cause. And with this - I am officially over my goal of raising $3200! WOOO!!!!
The marathon is 5 weeks away officially! Here we go!
