Woke up early today and made it to boxing - and it was packed! All those New Year’s resolutioners!
Anyway, class was fantastic as usual.
Warm up is similar to what we do in Bootcamp but focuses a little more on arms/obliques. But the usual body builders, squat hops, running, mountain climbers, bear crawling, shuffling laterally, a lot of touching toes with opposite arms, and stretching hip flexors, etc.
Class was great - you only did every station 1x for about 2-2 1/2 minutes. Then there is a set of 10 of whatever the instructor calls out (bicycles for abs, body builders, mountain climbers, push ups, etc etc) I think I can count every station:
It was about an hour and 20 class and was fantastic. And - I didn’t injure/cut my hands this week! So happy I got the workout in! I love boxing! I get all my aggression out and have such focus I always feel so clear after it is over. It’s a great full body workout!
Almost Friday - push through!
As random as this, I ate a chicken cutlet before boxing this morning. Yes I know they are fried, and don’t eat them often, but I love them and for some weird reason at cutlet at 6:15am sounded beyond amazing and we happened to have one left over from dinner Tuesday night in the fridge begging me to eat it.
It gave me CRAZY energy for boxing!
I was all hyped up, running around feeling like I was in Fight Club!

Even the coach when I was sparring with him was like whoa…are you mad? Because I was punching like way harder than I normally do.
Class was awesome - the usual, except tons and tons of bear crawls. TONS. I hate bear crawling.
Maybe I should eat a cutlet before class every week?
Almost the weekend - push through!
Another Thursday, another sparring class….I forgot the sponges to pad my hands in my wraps again today - so my knuckles are all beat up again.
Class was awesome as always, a little smaller than usual which is awesome because then you can go by yourself instead of with a partner. I am finally getting the form right, (elbows in, weight in the back foot, on your toes, hand has to hit the bag in the middle, not on the inside or the outside, etc) so I am hitting harder and more directly which is awesome.
Basically I am now “approved” to take Hard Body Friday, which is boxing at a different gym but with my same instructor at 6:45am on Friday’s. The coach told me today. So that’s kind of awesome that I am getting good enough to move to advanced! It’s apparently about 3x harder than the class I take on Thursdays, which I find impossible since class is already killer!
I am going to try to make it tomorrow and will report back!
It’s Thursday - keep strong till the end of the week!

I hauled my cookies to the gym nice and early this morning to take boxing - which was great! I haven’t been to boxing in almost two weeks, so it felt so good to get back in the ring!
It was the same as usual - but I had gone to Bootcamp yesterday and doing all the sit ups somehow tweaked like where your neck meets your trap. So I wasn’t at my full kill level this morning since basically my neck hurts. Which is annoying.
Class was awesome - lots of the usual. 15 min hard core warm up. Every other thing he yelled out was bear crawl, which by the end my shoulders were on fire so badly I thought they were going to give out. After that it was the usual stations with heavy bags in between all the planks, Russian twists, mountain climbers, push-ups, P90-X, crab walks, etc.
And - my hands didn’t get jacked up today! Not sure if it’s because maybe I wasn’t going as hard because of my neck, or if I just finally managed to get my wraps on more evenly or what - but I’ll take it!
Almost the end of the week - keep at it!

So happy I was able to make it to boxing today! I hadn’t been in two weeks! It gives me satisfaction to look down at my hand and see my bruised knuckles!
So class was the same as it usually is, until the end.
There is a new thing that is added to the end of class now: The Heavenly Hundred.
Which is the worst thing.
Ever.
100 squats. 100 push ups. 100 v-ups.
All after you have just boxed for an hour. And are the most exhausted.
I literally thought my abs were going to tear, abs all through class, then this at the end? Horrid.
But I like the pain! I am still riding high from my class, I love it and it’s an amazing workout. Get your workout in today so you can enjoy lots of Valentine treats tonight!

*Yes I am still choking down every day dumb greek yogurt - I hate it so much, even with ceareal in it. But it’s good for you. And it’s healthy. So forcing it down daily. Ugh.
I went to boxing today for the first time in like a month - and it was AMAZING!
The class was packed, but the coach still had us going 1 at a time instead of with partners, which is awesome because when you are sparring with him, it’s so much harder when you are on your own - because you get no rest time!
Warm up was like 15 min of the usual gym class warm up: push ups, medi push ups, bicycles, body builders, jump squats, bear crawl, spiderman push ups, flying lunges, etc - the the class:
In between each station for the last 30 second of the round you stop what you are doing, and the coach calls out an exercise to switch to - lunges, body builders, push-ups, jump squats, mountain climbers, etc.
There were a few more, but I didn’t make it all the way around due to class already being at an hour and ten, and I had to hop in the shower to get ready for work!
What a fantastic way to start my day! I forgot how much I love boxing. Get your Thursday workout in pre-happy hour!
