Friday - I took Shea shopping after work, which is always fun. We go into Saks, or Henri Bendel and he gets showered with attention, then when we get home he is so exausted he sleeps all night! It’s a win win for everyone! (I ended up not getting anything btw) then I came home and made this delicious dinner:
Sara’s pork loin recipe with roasted carrots and potatoes, along with these broccoli fritters from my favorite food blog Smitten Kitchen.

Saturday - spent all day apartment hunting, and WE FOUND AN APARTMENT!!! WOO!!! And it has a 22ft balcony!! Here is the view from my new super awesome balcony!

The only thing…we are leaving the city! This apartment is in Hoboken, NJ. So weird to be leaving the city after over 7 years. But it’s 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, with a washer and dryer in the apartment, and a 22’ balcony! It’s BEYOND amazing, and B will actually be closer to work than he is now. So crazy. We are so pumped!
After a delicious lunch with our friends T&D that live in Hoboken, we signed for the apartment, and then headed out to the Island for Father’s Day.
Sunday - laid out for an hour and a half. Ate B’s mom’s delicious cooking. Showed everyone photos of our new apartment, and generally just relaxed.
Great weekend - but with no workouts since Friday morning I am ready to turn it on today!
Trying to find normalcy in madness.
Not knowing when you can go to your home.
Not only trusting but relying on the kindness of friends, family, and strangers, for help when you desperately need it.
I still don’t have power at my home.
Today I went to the gym and ran 6 miles. I took a long hot shower there, grateful for the heat and clean water. I then trucked back to my in-law’s where I have been camping on the floor since Tuesday.
Going to the gym today helped me feel like “before” rather than “after”. Sometimes it’s the little things that make you feel like, well, you.
I am lucky that I have somewhere warm and dry to stay while I am temporarily homeless. I hope that all the disaster victims find relief soon, as much as they can.
