Hauled myself out of bed through this crap weather to the gym this morning to make it to boxing. I have mentioned before that our coach is also training Cotto for his fight against Mayweather. So he wasn’t there today, we had a sub, who was good but a little less intense. We started class 15 minutes late which is annoying when you are getting up at 5:45am to get to the gym.
Anyway, a less intense boxing workout is still a better-than-most workout overall. It was the usual with every other station a heavy bag, and mostly abs sprinkled throughout.
The biggest challenge for me - 1 of the stations was the speed bag. It’s all about rhythm. So what I learned is hit it super light, basically count to three - so it hits the back, the front again, then it hits the back again, and then you punch again. As you get better you can hit it harder, which will make it move faster. It’s so freaking hard! I really want to work on it. I know it’s going to take me a long long long time before I am awesome at it, but if I practice a lot I can hopefully get it!
